About Forró:

Forró is a vibrant and joyful Brazilian dance that has gained popularity worldwide. It's characterized by its rhythmic steps and playful spirit. The dance creates a unique and captivating experience where two dancers communicate through a close embrace.

About the teacher:

Hi, I’m Paulo and I will be your forró intructor this season.

I’ve danced forró for over a decade, in parties back in Brazil, organizing get togethers in Turku, and participating in the forró community in Europe.

It will be my honor to welcome you to the forró community, teaching you your first steps and helping you express yourself and connect to others with your dance.

About the Beginners’ course:

This course is suited for people who have never danced forró before as well as those who haven’t danced in a while and need a refresher.

Throughout the course, you will learn more than enough steps to go to a forró party and enjoy yourself. You will also learn best practices for embracing different forró rhythms, body awareness, and the basics of musicality.

You can join this course with or without a partner.

Other info:

Take your water bottle. Dress up with comfortable clothes that are flexible, loose, or don’t restrict movement. Wear indoor or dancing shoes, or stay barefoot.

Thursdays 4.9 – 11.12.25; 19:00-20:15 pm (1h15min)

Location: Turku Together (Tuureporinkatu 13E 80, Turku)

PRICE & REGISTRATION:

Beginners (14 classes) - 50 eur (Association member) / 70 eur (Non-member)

Students are expected to register before joining the classes.

The course has a maximum of 20 students.

By becoming a member of the association Forró Abraço Nordestino (FAN ry), you will receive discounts and other perks throughout the year. The membership fee is 15 euros (or a support membership on a ”pay what you want” basis), and you can choose to become a member through the registration form.
