This March we have for the first time in Helsinki two cohesive courses focusing on the forró roots style and introducing some of the basics of this style!
We will have a beginners course and an improvers course (both 6 weeks in duration) in which we explore the different figures and movements characteristic to this style, the technique and body awareness needed in the dance as well as expressiveness and musicality!
Forró roots (Itaúnas style) is a relatively new style of forró that originated in Itaúnas, Brazil. The style has more focus on footwork, is predominantly danced in closed embrace and has gotten influences from other couple dances, such as samba and tango. It has gained popularity in both Brazil and all around the world and brings some extra challenge to the dance!
